Dog Lifeguards Help Save Lives in Italy

Italy is the only country that recognizes dogs as actual lifeguards.  The combination of dogs and humans actually makes for a much more efficient rescue team, and each year Italy's School for Lifeguard Dogs takes in a growing number of recruits.  After many years of experience and training, president of the school, Ferruccio Pilenga has found that dogs are ideal partners for water rescue.  They remain calm under pressure, can pull multiple swimmers while staying afloat, and instinctively take the safest route through currents. Check out these amazing pups!
