Discussing Snowboarding’s Beginnings, Progression And The Key To Happiness With Todd Richards

The Inertia gives us a deeper look into a true snowboarding legend, Todd Richards in their latest series "creators." Todd grew up in Massachusetts as a skateboarder and first saw snowboarding in an ad in Thrasher Magazine. The young Richards optimistically thought, "Oh great we can do all of our skate tricks on snow in the winter," but the reality was anything but that. Frigid temps, blue ice, and shitty equipment was the reality and caused Todd to originally hate snowboarding.

Richards moved west to Southern California and his snowboarding career went off, quickly becoming one of the most influential and competitively successful riders of snowboarding's early days. Todd is now a regular color commentator for NBC and finds himself doing more math than ever while covering the Olympics and Dew Tour.
