Crankworx Whistler Kicks Off With EWS and Garbanzo DH

Ahhh August in Whistler. It’s that time of year when the trails are blown up, the brake bumps are relentless, but the greatest minds in mountain biking come by and turn the resort into the epicenter of the two-wheeled world. Crankworx Whistler just kicked off this past weekend, and with the Enduro World Series and the Garbanzo DH already on the books, things are off to a great start.

For the first time, the EWS was a two-day affair in Whistler, and included an 11.1km stage starting at the Top of the World Trail and ending in Whistler Village. Talk about a bone crusher. After two days of grueling racing, Richie Rude and Isabeau Courdurier stood atop the podium.

In a similar vein, the infamous Garbanzo DH race took place, pitting racers against some of the gnarliest trails the bike park has to offer like Original Sin and In Deep. Mitch Ropelato and Georgia Astle stood atop the podium. Congratulations also to Casey Brown on a second-place finish behind Astle.
