Colorado’s First Backcountry Resort Opening Soon

Last year, we interviewed Erik Lambert and Jeff Woodward, avid backcountry skiers, and the masterminds behind Bluebird Backcountry. The two described their vision for “an avalanche-controlled and patrolled ski area without lifts, but with amenities like lodges with food service, rentals, and guides,” and laid out the strategy for bringing their shared vision to life.

At the time, they were running a pilot program to test their idea's viability and were hoping to open in some form during the 2020 season. Skip forward a few months, and Bluebird Backcountry is fast becoming a reality.
