

Close Call: The Avalanche That Nearly Ended It All

While filming for TGR's first ski movie "The Continuum", Todd and Steve Jones had a problem on their hands. They had a great roster of talent, but little budget to travel and showcase these incredible athletes. That led to the brothers mostly filming in local locations for their first flick.
Today’s reality for us hangs in the balance of what could have been. If the winds had shifted or the snow had fallen differently on this fateful day, we might not be where we are now.
Back in ‘96, one of our co-founders, Todd Jones, went for a heavy ride in an avalanche that he won’t soon forget. Thankfully, he got spit out the back end on top as the debris settled and walked away unscathed with nothing missing but one of his ski poles. The crew kept the session alive after taking a breather and reassessing and ended up stacking a ton of clips that eventually made it into our first film, 'The Continuum'.

A few months later, we got a call from Oprah Winfrey, asking to feature the avalanche clip in one of her projects!
