When it comes to independent brands committed to their core, Chimera Snowboards doesn’t just lead from the front—it charges from the inside out. And as Sundialers, Chimera’s latest video project, rolls out, it offers a new kind of storytelling that you don't want to miss out on. This film dives deep into the world of splitboarding, showing what it’s like to pioneer new terrain and forge a snowboarding experience rooted in connection and creation.
Chimera isn’t just another snowboard brand; it's run and owned by snowboarders who live and breathe the sport. Everything is built from the ground up in their Salt Lake City R&D shop, where their team is not just in the backcountry testing, but also getting hands-on with graphics, videography, and every inch of the process. They’ve brought on an elite group of international splitboard guides who share a close bond with Chimera’s riders, helping to create and shape some of the most advanced splitboards on the market.
The Chimera & Pallas Difference
Founded in 2011, Chimera is closing in on 15 years of redefining splitboarding. Alongside them is their sister brand, Pallas Snowboards, dedicated to advancing women’s splitboarding. Designed and led by a team of passionate female riders, Pallas crafts boards with purpose and precision. Together, Chimera and Pallas shine through a unique, collaborative approach that blends innovation with on-snow testing—by the same riders who trust and use the gear themselves.
Chimera's latest board release, the Hermit, just scored an “Editor’s Choice” spot in Backcountry Magazine’s 2025 Gear Guide, and their Shoprat Guide series board has been named a “Gear Guide Select.” Both boards exemplify Chimera’s commitment to quality, adventure, and the authentic snowboarding experience, reflecting years of expertise and passion.
Pallas has the epiphany alpine series also included in the "gear guide select."

Open Season 2024: Community, Gear, and Good Times
On November 14th, 2024 Chimera and Pallas are hosting their annual “Open Season” bash at Fisher Brewing in downtown SLC. This year’s Open Season party has all the classic essentials for a good time: new board shapes and graphics, local photography, a premiere of the Sundialers film, and food truck fare, all topped off with cold beers. Plus, there will be an opportunity drawing to raise funds for Edge Outdoors, a non-profit supporting more inclusive access to the mountains for BIPOC Women.
Both Chimera and Pallas also offer a free “try before you buy” demo program on their site, a new experience making it easy to test out their boards before committing to a purchase. And for those who want to deepen their splitboarding skills, two Splitboard 101 clinics in the Wasatch Mountains are coming up. Chimera and Pallas will sponsor a co-ed clinic on December 22, 2024, and Pallas will host a women’s clinic on January 5, 2025. Find more info on these clinics on their website.
For snowboarders looking to support rider-driven, independent brands that go the distance with design, development, and community, Chimera and Pallas deliver in every way. From their films to constant splitboard innovations, they prove again and again that the soul of snowboarding lives in the mountains, and in every one of their boards.
