Amir Kabbani might not be a name many Americans recognize in mountain biking, but the German rider is a bit of a legend across the pond. After starting his career as a young gun chasing older friends around the woods, he managed to turn his hometown of Boppard (a tiny village in a stunningly beautiful river valley dotted with medieval castles) into a riding destination of its own right, complete with a bike park and rowdy freeride trails. Since then, Kabbani’s career has included its fair share of highs and lows, including winning numerous big-name freestyle comps and hitting rock bottom dealing with injuries and big crashes.
