What a weekend for ski and snowboard competition! With big events on both sides of the Atlantic today, we're looking at the first stop of the 2023 Freeride World Tour in Baqueira Beret, Spain. The usual suspects are back, like returning champs Maxime Chabloz, Tiphanie Perrotin, and Jess Hotter, as well as local powerhouses Aymar Navarro and Abel Moga, but there's some new names on the athlete list today. Spain's Elisabet Marina Vilanova will make her Freeride World Tour debut today after receiving a wildcard for the event in the Ski Women category. The young Spaniard has climbed the FWT qualifying ranks in recent years and will now have the chance to prove her position among the best freeriders in the world. The Spanish Pyrenees have seen a lot of storm activity of late, and cold fronts have driven snowfall to lower altitudes - perfect conditions for sending big lines.
