Breck’s Legendary 4th of July Ski Party is Back for 2025
The ultimate Fourth of July celebration is back, and it involves scoring high-alpine corn snow instead of just watching fireworks. Breckenridge's annual Peak 10 Classic is on for 2025, offering the perfect way to earn your Independence Day turns.
For years, this gathering was a classic word-of-mouth meetup for those willing to put in the work. The objective is simple: hike two miles and 1,500 vertical feet up to the Fourth of July Bowl on Peak 10 and get after it with a solid crew.
As the tradition grew, so did the need to make it sustainable. Back in 2018, organizers Josh Barilar and Zach Ryan stepped up to make the event official, preserving the grassroots vibes while ensuring the party could continue. After the U.S. Forest Service required the event to be permitted on USFS land, the 2024 Classic saw the benefits of these changes, including an official permit, event insurance, and a free shuttle service.
For 2025, the party continues with a few key updates to keep things running smoothly. The Peak 10 Classic remains free, but participation and the shuttle ride now require registration. There will be no private vehicle access, so everyone will meet up at the Beaver Run Resort and hop on the continuous shuttle running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to get to the Overlook and start the hike.
Bikes and e-bikes are encouraged as an alternative way to get to the trailhead, with parking available at the Overlook.

While some worried that making the event official would kill its core spirit, the energy in 2024 proved the soul of the event is stronger than ever. With support from local businesses providing prizes for a charitable raffle and even a custom craft brew, the Peak 10 Classic is all about good times and giving back.
Here's to another year of celebrating freedom in the mountains. Those looking to get in on the action can register here.
