Big White Ski Resort in British Columbia is dropping serious cheddar in a multi-year effort to modernize its infrastructure and operations. They've committed $9.4 million CAD (~$6.9 million USD) to the project, all in an effort to modernize and improve the resort that opened in 1968.
A significant chunk of the money ($3.6 million CAD) will go towards renovating the Black Forest area. According to the Big White website, all lift towers will score a fresh coat of paint and the Ridge Rocket and Snow Ghost chairlifts are getting new power lines to support tech upgrades like digital signage, electric heating, and possible future upgrades as needed.

$700,000 will buy a winch cat for more easier grooming and a whopping $600,000 is going towards a premium WINTERSTEIGER ski tuning machine for faster and more precise maintenance.

A new daycare is being added to the Kids’ Centre. Whitefoot Lodge will feature a remodeled retail shop called “The Rider”. And the popular Kettle Valley Steakhouse finally reopens with a bigger kitchen, lounge, and primo restrooms.
Work is expected to continue through 2026 as part of Big White’s long-term capital investment plan, but much of these upgrades will be done by the end of summer 2025. The aim is to make Big White a more sustainable, guest-focused resort, all without sacrificing its BC charm.
