Bear Tests Biker’s Reflexes, Ends Poorly

Riding the other day, I hit a vole (though I'm not entirely certain it wasn't a overgrown hamster, dwarf marmot, funky chipmunk, or runaway guinea pig; I'm new to these parts, and still haven't got Wyoming's animal kingdom down), and I thought that experience verged on traumatizing.

Sure, I made one bird's dinner the human equivalent of Easy Mac, but having to pick bits of mystery animal out of my front wheel was no fun. I was the only biker out there for miles. Dude just hit it wrong. Or maybe I did...

But this video knocks my experience out the park, perfectly exemplifying animals' questionable sense of road-crossing timing.

Tahoe local Davis Souza was getting it on Mills Peak in Graeagle, California, when he encountered a bear, and not from a distance; Souza full-on tackled the thing.

It could be argued the bear was simply testing Souza's reflexes. But since the wee bear walked off with an impressive bump on his dome, Souza didn't impress him all that much.

Moral of the video: practice your bunny hops.
