The family owned and operated Donner Ski Ranch, one of the last family owned and operated ski areas in California, is rolling out new weekday lift ticket pricing. This season, they're bringing back “Old School Days," a no frills attempt to bring heads to the hill during the week.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays this season, the beloved Tahoe resort is offering $69 lift tickets. No advance purchase. No apps. No surge pricing. Just drive to the mountain, walk up to a ticket window, and buy your lift ticket from a real person. Just like the days of yore.
With no pre-purchase option, you don’t have to commit days or weeks in advance. If the weather looks good, you go ski. If it doesn’t, you don’t. That kind of flexibility has quietly disappeared at a lot of resorts, especially in California. "Old School Days" are bringing it back in style.
Finding a way to get on the hill for under $100, all said and done, is getting harder every season. Between parking fees, reservations, and ticket prices that have risen north of $200, casual weekday skiing is becoming a luxury. If you can dodge a day of weekday work, $69 lift tickets are a breath of fresh air.
