

22-Year-Old Snowboarder Dies at Austrialian Resort

A tragic accident at one of Australia’s most well-known ski resorts has claimed the life of a young snowboarder.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, a 22-year-old male snowboarder died on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, after a crash in Perisher’s Front Valley Terrain Park. The freestyle zone is known for its ever-changing lineup of features and “the biggest jumps and rails” at the resort.
Emergency services responded quickly, with multiple ambulance crews and a rescue helicopter dispatched to the scene. Despite immediate treatment from paramedics, the snowboarder succumbed to his injuries. An NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed the scale of the emergency response.
Perisher Vice President and General Manager Nathan Butterworth issued a statement on behalf of the resort and parent company Vail Resorts:
“Perisher Ski Resort, Ski Patrol, and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest's family and friends.”

Perisher is the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, spanning 3,076 skiable acres with 44 lifts and multiple terrain parks. The Front Valley park is one of its most iconic features, hosting professional riders and high-profile events throughout the season. The park features jumps as tall as 9.1 meters. In 2015, the resort was purchased by Vail Resorts for around $177 million.
