

22-Year-Old Skier Passes Away in Thredbo Accident

The global ski community is in mourning. Sean Forrest, a 22-year-old from Brisbane, Queensland, passed away in a tragic accident at Thredbo Resort on September 2nd. Forrest, a passionate skier, was at the resort to compete in the UniSport Snow Nationals. He was also a dedicated member of the University of Queensland Ski and Snowsports Society.
The accident occurred on the "Dream Run," an intermediate trail known for its varying conditions and thin coverage in certain sections. It is understood he collided with rocks on the edge of the ski track. Emergency services, including the Thredbo Ski Patrol and a medical doctor, responded to the scene. Though they acted rapidly, they pronounced Forrest dead.
Beyond the Slopes
Sean's university ski club remembered him as an "absolute pillar" of their community. He had an infectious smile and energy that uplifted everyone around him. An "avid skier" from a young age, Sean's dedication to the sport was clear. He joined the executive team as the Head of Events, hoping to improve the club. His former high school, Brisbane Grammar School, also recalled him as a "talented and versatile sportsman" with a "big heart" and a passion for helping others.

Thredbo Resort issued a statement saying they were "deeply saddened by the tragic passing". The TGR family extends its deepest sympathies to Sean's family, his parents, Michael Forrest and Angie Ryan, and his two brothers, Jude and Dominic.
