2014 Watea Review

The Specs:

The Fischer Watea is designed for skiers not afraid to venture off the beaten path.  Built for the backcountry, this thing skis and skins equally well.  Its 106 mm waist ensures the ski is light enough for blitzing up the skin track yet fat enough for providing flotation on the descent.  The rockered tip planes through powder and chunder while its traditional camber provides stability and a responsive ride on hardpack.  To further aid in skinning, the ski sports a flat tail that provides ample contact with the snow.  When cranking out turns, you can also count on the ski’s wood core, which also features a titanal shell.  This provides a stable ride while also dampening vibrations.  With the Watea, the approach is just as fun as the descent.
