In May, the High Fives Foundation brought 11 adaptive athletes to Maui for a 10-day adaptive surf camp.
All the athletes have some sort of paralysis from accidents that completely changed their lives and made them rethink their identities.
"The main goal of this camp is to open doors for athletes," says Steve Wallace of the High Fives Foundation in the video. "Not everybody knows that these adaptive capabilities are in place, so we're just showing people what's out there."
High Fives is a foundation that provided resources to athletes that have been injured and can no longer do their sport.
