Following in the eager footsteps of Maine's Sunday River, Colorado's A-Basin, which has historically competed with Loveland to be the first ski area in the country to open in October, fired up the snowguns for the first time this past Wednesday to give them a quick test before the race for an October opening day ensues.

Let's hope it cools off soon; with a high of 80ยบ in Denver today, it'll have to if Front Range skiers want some October turns.
