Firsthand Video Shows Everest Base Camp Getting Hit By Avalanche

This past weekend, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal, with subsequent aftershocks registering as high as 6.7. The rising death toll from the country's worst quake in 80 years is counting above 3,300 this Monday morning, including 18 who died when an avalanche triggered by the quake struck the populated Everest base camp, which was astonishingly captured on video by German climber Jost Kobusch in the video above. Despite the base camp being shrowded in fog, you can hear as the camp catches the glimpse of the avalanche in the distance and begins sprinting away, before the entire camp is engulfed as the wall of the avalanche slams into it.
