A few weeks ago we featured a story about the HEXO+, Xavier De Le Rue’s new drone project. In the piece we pondered the implications of drones and the use of them in outdoor cinematography. Only a short week later, Maverick Moments provides us with an excellent example of the application of this technology. Shot at Puerto Escondido, known at the Mexican Pipeline, it features surfers Oscar Moncada & Angelo Lozano. The video speaks for itself. They are able to capture unique and compelling bird’s-eye shots of these locals ripping the break. The overhead shots of the waves completely change the perspective of what big breaks look like. As said before, we can’t wait to see more creative segments surface after the widespread adoption of drone technology.
