The Jones Snowboards Storm Chaser Is the Perfect Pow-Specific Ride

The Storm Chaser is "a surfy ride that wants to go fast." TGR photo.

Snowboarding legend and founder of Jones Snowboards, Jeremy Jones, teamed up with shaper Chris Christenson to create the Storm Chaser. It's short-but-nimble, swallowtail design is built for steep and deep backcountry conditions.

And the Storm Chaser definitely lived up to its name during our gear test earlier this season. Testers raved about its float and excellent performance at speed.

"The 3D nose allows for the smoothest edge to edge turns in soft snow I've ever experienced," wrote one tester. "It's extremely quick between turns, unlike other boards I tried. Floats great for a smaller board without the volume in the nose and stiff enough to feel stable going straight and on groomers. Very easy to ride."

Overall, even though it's not necessarily a quiver-killer (testers said this board performs best off-piste), this board still holds up fairly well on groomers and many of our testers wanted to take it home with them.

Other tester comments:

"Floated like a cloud, super quick directional changes in pow, felt surprisingly stable on high-speed hard pack charging down to lift lines. Also buttered decently, nose wasn't too soft."

"A surfy ride with a short board that wants to go fast. Noticeable drive out of carve turns with power pushing through the tail like fins on a surfboard."
