Oakley Unification Pro Pants Review

If you’re looking to unleash your inner Seth (Morrison) this winter then you’ll want to pair the Oakley Unification Pro jacket with these pants. These two pieces create one very impressive outfit for athletes at the top of their game who want high-end materials and performance to take their skiing to the next level. Hell, if they work for Seth, there’s a good chance that they can work for you too.

I’ll be honest, I’m a bigger fan of the Unification Pro jacket than the pants, but everyone is different and both pieces should be considered if you’re looking for some no-nonsense GORE-TEX Pro Shell pieces. The best features of these pants are the featherweight waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX Pro Shell utilized, the super easy to access and snow impenetrable front cargo pockets (extra roomy and GORE-TEX lined to keep things dry), the crotch and long side vents for heat dispersion while hiking or climbing and the fact that you can choose to ski them with or without the bib. There are a few items however that I am not 100% sold on. I find the Oakley regular fit to be too short (I need to upsize from my normal large pant size to XL to make these work) and the lower inner-leg reinforcements are too stiff for my liking and cause unwanted bunching while I’m skiing.

The Oakley Unification Pro Pants are definitely an honorable mention type of piece for me because they are a little bit more quirky than most shell pants I tested. It’s probably best to play around with them in the store first to make sure that they work well for you and the type of skiing you’re into. If they do, it’s hard to knock the technical quality of these pants and overall smart features.
