Oakley Great Ascent Jacket Review - Mens

There’s just something so comforting about wearing Oakley outerwear like the new Jake Blauvelt inspired Great Ascent jacket. Like a big heaping plate of comfort food, the Great Ascent just makes me feel happy. It provides the perfect mix of tech, comfort, cut and performance for resort riding and dabbling in the sidecountry.

The versatility of the Great Ascent is quite impressive. It’s just as well suited attacking big AK lines as it is  lapping the park. The GORE-TEX shell helps ensure you stay dry no matter what Mother Nature throws at you or if you’re getting your hike on. I greatly appreciate the strategically placed fleece patches in the mesh lining that add some bonus warmth where it’s needed most (back, shoulders and chest). I’ve always enjoyed the Oakley loose fit cut featured in the Great Ascent because it’s baggy enough for maximum steeze and maneuverability. Some of the more minor features like the wrist gaiters (Love’em!), wired hood visor (perfect for changing light and storm conditions) and easy to pull front zipper (even with gloves or mittens on) makes every day plowing through the snow even more enjoyable.

I’m not usually a big fan of day-glo in my gear, but somehow Jake and Oakley have found a way for it to work well and look sweet. Not since the 80s have I seen a company do that. I really like the lightening green accented jacket with lightening green pants since it’s easier to spot on the mountain or in a slide if something goes seriously wrong. It’s one of the best looking kits this season. The Great Ascent jacket will easily put a smile on most riders’ faces and should not be overlooked.
