When it comes to choosing a new helmet, you probably already have a few key brands in mind when you go into your local ski shop. Those brands are probably great, but I would also recommend adding the UVEX HLMT 7 Pro to your short list.
UVEX might not be the first brand that comes to mind when you think of a cool helmet, but their new Core Range dedicated to freeskiing and freeriding is not only refreshing for the brand due to its contemporary styling, but also super high quality as well.
I really like the HLMT 7 Pro helmet a lot and feel it’s one of the best new helmets on the market. It features a shock absorbing shell (this should be the main reason why you buy a helmet), an adjustable venting system, an IAS adjustable sizing system for the perfect fit (this system is one of the best in the biz), removable liner and ear pads, front spoiler and a Monomatic chin strap closure that is the easiest and best that I’ve ever used on a helmet. Your head will not be disappointed.
The only thing that I would like to see added is some sort of liner coverage that carries further down the back of your neck for extra warmth. Sometimes if the wind hits your neck just right and you’re not wearing a beanie underneath, you can experience some minor brain freeze. Not a huge deal, but a perk that I’m always in favor of.
Add UVEX to your shopping list this winter because they’re definitely making products for the freeride market that can clearly stand up to the competition.
