Outdoor Research Axcess Jacket Review

Outdoor Research has always been a brand synonymous with very high-quality products. The only issue in years past was that you didn’t have too many OR color choices unless you wanted everything in black or a primary color.

With guns blazing, Outdoor Research is now making some of the best outerwear on the market in a range of colors to appease any customer’s wants or desires. I had the privilege to test the OR Axcess jacket and I’m happy to report that it is one of the year’s best. It’s very well suited for any type of resort riding and your sidecountry adventures.

This two-layer Gore-Tex shell will keep you nice and dry, while the EduraLoft insulation in the torso of the jacket ensures that you stay warm. You’ll also find fully taped seams, chest-to-hip CrossFlow zippers for very serious venting, a powder skirt, a Tricot lining to wick moisture, a helmet compatible hood, a drawcord hem and a bonus balaclava that tucks into the back of the jacket for super cold and windy days.

I found this jacket very enjoyable to use and well suited as the temps started to drop and the snow started to blow. I was happy to see that OR paid attention to the details and offered all of the right features. The waterproof zippered pockets, headphone cord pull through, internal glove and goggle pockets and integrated RECCO reflector make the jacket even better. I like to stay warm, comfortable and dry and that’s exactly what the Axcess jacket delivers. The Axcess jacket will last you many seasons and put a smile on your face every time.
