Men's Helly Hansen Warm Ice Crew Top Review

I’m a convert. I’ll admit it. I tried Helly Hansen’s base layers for the first time this season and I love them. First, the Dry Stripe crew (every day type of baselayer) and now the Warm Ice Crew for the super cold days.

I am a huge fan of layering and think that it always gets overlooked. Everyone still seems so concerned with outerwear, but what you wear underneath your outerwear can be just as important. I use this piece in two different ways. First, I use it paired with a mid-layer and a great jacket or shell on really cold days and I also use it in conjunction with an insulated jacket on chilly Colorado winter days. In the second scenario, I love not having to wear a mid-layer and this Warm Ice Crew makes that possible. This new program of mine allows me to wear two pieces instead of three which is great for less bulk and is also perfect for hiking too since I just open up my jacket vents and can dump excess heat when I need to.  Awesome.

I am definitely taking this Warm Ice Crew to AK next season and it’s clearly not a cheap item, but if you’ve got the dough or can eliminate a mid-layer, it can be a very smart addition to your gear lineup.
