I’m a zip hoodie fiend. When I’m not skiing and it’s not summertime, I’m always wearing a zip hoodie. They’re the most important staple in my wardrobe. As I’ve gotten older, I like to only buy the most comfortable and highest-quality zip hoodies I can find. This is why my Marine Layer Lined Hoodie is my new favorite.
Marine Layer is a small, sustainably and U.S. made clothing brand out of San Francisco with a very bright future. Eco-friendly is thrown around way too much these days and even the most toxic products claim they’re good for the Earth. Also, most of the clothing companies that claim to be good for the environment also have the styling of a reusable grocery bag. Well, Marine Layer breaks this mold and takes sustainability and style to the next level.
Marine Layer clothing utilizes bio-based fabrics, is manufactured in California which minimizes Marine Layer’s carbon footprint caused by fuel usage from transportation and most production materials are either reused or recycled. This is all very important, but if you don’t even know about these aspects of Marine Layer’s business, you’d probably just want their clothes anyway based on the look and feel of each item. The Lined Hoodie that I’m wearing while I write this review is nice enough to wear out in NYC or SF, but also casual enough to sport at a BBQ, picnic or just after a long day on the hill.
I have really learned the value of quality craftsman and will almost always pay more for it. Why? Because if you love something you’ll wear it more and it will last longer. I personally dislike trends and like to wear clothing until it can’t take any more abuse. The Marine Layer hoodie is by far the most comfortable hoodie that I own, it looks the best and the flannel hood lining adds some extra steeze points. This is not an inexpensive zip hoodie at all, but the material quality and eco-friendly manufacturing process easily make up for that.
Lastly, it’s important to know that Marine Layer is dedicated to skiing and you will continue to see more from them on this front as they grow their brand. They have currently teamed up with Folsom Custom Skis on a co-branded pair of Marine Layer skis that you can win on Facebook. How sweet is that? The contest ends on March 1 so make sure to enter here for your chance to win. Definitely check out Marine Layer and I’m confident that you’ll be stoked you did.
