Wow! Helly Hansen made another amazing jacket with the Odin Mountain Jacket MK2.
There are a few jackets this season that are my favorites and the Odin is one of them. Helly Hansen created one hell of a shell here and didn’t skimp when it came to technology or high-end features.
The Odin incorporates Helly Hansen’s proprietary HELLY TECH Professional 3-ply 25K mm waterproof and breathable shell technology for top of the line performance. As an added bonus, the fabric is also stretchable which is great for maneuverability and comfort. The Odin also features an Aquaguard V9 Vision main zipper, Aquaguard pit and pocket zippers, 3D welded shoulder reinforcements, a helmet compatible hood, zip-out powder skirt, RECCO reflector and window pass pocket (great feature!). This jacket is fully loaded.
The Odin is definitely a lightweight jacket and is great for a long day on the mountain. It is also designed to work well with a harness or while carrying a backpack for your backcountry adventures. The 3D welded shoulder reinforcements are essential for locking your pack on your shoulders and for eliminating wear and tear. There are two waterproof chest pockets which I find very useful, but there is no internal pocket for holding my phone or an iPod which is a little disappointing. This is something I really like to have.
If you want one of the best technical ski jackets in the game, then you’ll have to see if the Odin Mountain Jacket MK2 is right for you. It’s definitely not inexpensive, but I’m confident that it’s worth the price.
