Burton 2.5L Bowen Jacket Review

Having a rain jacket in Colorado where I live is not essential, but when visiting NYC, Seattle or Anchorage, having the right rain jacket is a necessity. I place rain jackets into two key categories. The first category is the lightweight-tech category for sports activities and the second category is the stylish, ultra-waterproof city category. The Burton 2.5L Bowen Jacket not only fits into the latter category, but does so with flare and functionality.

The Bowen rain jacket is killer for so many reasons and the type of jacket you can comfortably wear out for some quality nightlife. The first and most important reason for why this jacket is so rad is that it will without a doubt keep you dry with its extra-durable and abrasion-resistant Dryride Durashell 2.5L fabric that is both waterproof and breathable. The second reason is that it has enough swag to keep you looking good in both NYC and in Whistler. And lastly, this jacket is fully loaded with additional features like smart pockets (waterproof zippers & internal media pocket) and a Contour hood that is one of the best adjustable hoods I’ve ever used with completely unimpeded peripheral vision.

All and all, this jacket is far more valuable to me than the $139.95 price tag. I will be moving from Colorado to Alaska this winter and know that this will become an almost everyday piece for me in the Alaska shoulder months and summer. If I have to point out a flaw, I would only knock this jacket for being slightly on the heavier side of things. That’s by no means a deal breaker and the Bowen has securely scored a spot in my jacket heavy rotation. I highly recommend this jacket!
