Bern G2 Helmet Review

Finding the right helmet is a pain in the ass. It needs to protect your head, fit properly, fit comfortably, vent well and look cool. The BERN G2 Helmet luckily does all these things. Plus, you can use it all four-seasons (by removing the liner)!

The first thing you’ll notice when you pick up the G2 is that it’s really lightweight and low profile thanks to the use of Zip Mold foam (provides better weight to strength ratio).  The next thing you’ll notice once you place this helmet on your head is that it’s crazy comfortable. I’ve tried tons of helmets out over the years and this one feels great with a fleece liner that not only covers your ears, but also the back of your neck. This is very key because if it doesn’t cover the back of your neck, you’ll get brain freeze on the hill.

There are eight vents on top of the helmet to dump excessive heat with a slider system so that you can determine what’s most comfortable for you. There are also two vents on the back of the helmet that always stay open. I would have liked to be able to close these vents too on really cold and windy days, but leaving them open all day isn’t really too much of a big deal.

In addition to all of these great features, the G2 also looks cool. I like the brim visor, although you can remove it if you don’t. This is definitely a great helmet and don’t miss checking it out if you’re looking for a new brain bucket this season.
