Who has had the biggest influence in your life?
My parents, for raising me to be who I am.

Who or what has been the biggest influence in your riding?
Again I would have to say my parents – they understood my love for skiing and allowed me to homeschool through high school so I could ski full time.
Also obsessively watching TGR films, reading magazines cover-to-cover, talking about anything and everything that had to do with skiing on the online forums – that all fueled the fire for the passion I have for the sport.

How did you cross over from amateur to pro, is there a story behind it?
There isn’t a definite moment when I crossed that line – it has been a progression over the last couple of years. Just by getting more exposure, recognition, and therefore receiving more support from sponsors.

What other hobbies/activities are you currently into? What do you do when you’re not riding?
As of spring/summer ’04 I’ve been getting into surfing. I recently spent two weeks in Costa Rica and a month in Oahu, Kauai, and Maui. Contrary to the cold, the snow, and the ski-gear-cluster, I have been enjoying the simplicity of the sun and surf. When the snow has melted, I can be found running, riding bikes, backpacking, surfing, reading, traveling, hanging with friends, and studying my ass off at college.

Where is the last place you have visited outside the States?
Costa Rica. I recently went there on a spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment trip with Charlotte Moats.

Any notable stories?
The airline lost my freaking luggage on the flight home, it was never found so I lost EVERYTHING that I had on that trip and was compensated squat for it. I’m still not over that one. . .

What is the last book you read?
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

Where do you see your sport in 5 years?
To be having as much fun then as I am now.

What’s the scariest thing that has happened to you while riding?
Getting a severe concussion and being knocked out cold for close to 10 minutes.

Where’s your favorite place to ride?
Dolomites, Italy. The skiing is just insane, the possibilities and places to explore are endless. Also, it’s ITALY. The place is indescribable; you really have to go to understand. Only words come to mind… Couloirs, crazy 400+ lifts all connected, cigars, culture, cheese, chocolate soufflés, Hotel Salarias, hospitality, helicopters, La Perla, gelato, grappas, Montenegro, wine, wine cellers, amazing people, pasta, refugios. . .

Trip to Italy – March/April ’04
