Who has had the biggest influence in your life? Why?
That question deserves a novel. It might sound cleche but my friends and family have had the most influence. My parents taught me sometimes more about reality than I would have liked but I have a good street sense thanks to them. The company you keep really says the most about you and I seem to suck up the ideas and personalitites of those around me. Therefor I hang out with the people I want to be like. That list is a long one.
Who or what has been the biggest influence on your riding? Why?
My dad. He taught me how to ski and continues to reminded me to dance(down the hill). Besides dad, my cousin AJ Cargill, World Freesking Champion and one of the first women in the mix took me under her wing and encouraged me to start competing. As far as style in the air goes, I'll never forget the first time I watched Sage ski. We were both competing at Snowbird and he truly embodied "dancing" down the mnt. I swear he barley touched the ground, spinning off everything, even in the worst conditions. We both won the comp. that day, but I won a whole new perspecive of what skiing could be. On the snow, I still respect Shane McConkey and Nobis the most, they are so techinically smooth and strong, I want to steal both their skills and their balls(as long as that's where they get all that conficence from).
How did you cross over from amateur to pro, is there a story behind it?
I did everything I was supposed to according to the rules of society, right up until I realized that path doesn't necessarily bring happiness. I did well in school, went to college and got one of the best internships in the world (according to Forbes Magazine). Sitting in a cubical one day I realized I it would be a lot more fun to ski in movies so I started training and ended up winning every comp I competed in. From there I begged my sponsors to give me a shot and the next thing I knew I was proving it to the TGR boys.
What other hobbies / activities are you currently into, what do you do when your not riding?
I have a graphic design degree so I do a lot of illustration for everything from t-shirts to skis to posters to murals. Other than that I love most all sports, soccer, mnt biking, waterskiing, just got into kiting, pretty much everything you can do outside I'm into it. oh, I like hanging out with kids too, they remind me to laugh...alot.
Candle light dinner with girlfriend or McDonalds drive thru on the way to the mountain?
How about a candle light dinner with 12 of my best girlfriends right before going out to dance. Then getting up early for drivethrough coffee and a doenut(freetrade of course)on the way to the early tram.
