Leave the ground beneath your feet,
Rise up, your inner legend greet.
A body in motion --
Twisting, turning, churning, yearning --
Apex found, heaven bound.
But remember, what goes up must come down.
Director Bryan Smith of Reel Water Productions explores the concept of catching air across a variety of sports. Words by Fitz Cahall.

The world is filled with noise. Make room for silence. Arc'teryx runner Adam Campbell stars in a story with no words. Shot on the streets of Vancouver and the high country around Whistler, Silence is the story of every runner, climber and skier who chases passion rather than the modern world's trappings. Headphones recommended.

In Iceland's rough and remote Westfjords region, Chad Sayers, Forrest Coots, and Chad Manley step back in time to revisit a way of life that lasted 1000 years. With the guidance of local friends Siggi Jonsson and Runar Karlsson, they traverse the storied landscape via sailboat, kayak, and ski, exploring what it would have been like to survive there for so many generations. Each ski run begins and ends with seaweed underfoot, while waterfalls, lichen-clad couloirs, and stories of humans past make up the in-between.

"We are all going to make mistakes. It's truly learning from them that makes life really sweet," says skier, climber and parent Roger Strong. On April 6th, 2011, the veteran backcountry skier was skinning up his favorite backcountry run when he triggered an avalanche that swept him and two friends hundreds of feet through steep trees. When the snow settled, he was badly injured, but alive along with his friends. In the months that followed, Strong, confined to a wheelchair, was left to sort through his decision-making. Had he failed as father and a husband? What would he take away from the experience? And if his body would allow, would he still want to ski?

The Equation is a journey that follows french botanist Dr. Julian Desvaux in his pursuit for the rumored but undiscovered la respiration dʼorchidee ́s (The Breathing Orchid). It is rumored to have "fountain of Youth" qualities, regenerating cells and reviving deceased matter.
Armed with recording, mapping, and scientific devices, he shoulders an immense pack and heads into the jungles, mountains, and wild places to find this elusive flower. Along the way he finds his pursuit of beauty comes at a cost.
Slowly but surely his devices not only fail his pursuit, but become a hindrance.Eventually he is stranded in the wilderness with nothing more than his five senses where the story blooms much like the Breathing Orchid itself. Facing death, the thing he seeks may be the only thing that can save him.

We are very proud to support the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA) [http://nsmba.ca/] and their Trail Adoption Plan (TAP) [http://nsmba.ca/trail-adoption-plan]. Started in 2011, TAP has already resulted in over 40 trail days and 4,400 hours being spent on restoring nine local trails -- and 2012 promises to double that.
Arc'teryx has been involved in a variety of ways, adopting the Dreamweaver trail and sponsoring the first-ever Trail Builder Academy [http://nsmba.ca/north-shore-builder-academy-presented-arcteryx]. Fall dates for the academy have been announced and registration is open if you'd like to join us.
Next week, Mark Wood, NSMBA's Program Manager will be the keynote speaker at the biennial IMBA World Summit [http://www.imba.com/world-summit] to present the Trail Adoption Plan program.
