    This is so sad.

Just ask the TGR guys, that building was becoming...shall we say...marginal at best.

It was/is time for a change, IMO.

(My ex Co. had an office on the ground floor...place was getting pretty ragged)

    The memories persist, though!

When I was driving to BC last September we made a detour down to JH just to ride that tram before they closed it to the public. The hike up through Granite Canyon has become one of the most memorable experiences I've had in recent years.
(still wish there'd been time to stay for the anomaly premier though..)

I never made it out to ride the old tram....but with as much TGR footage as I have watched from there.....it still kind of makes me sad. It will be great when the new tram is up and running.

It will be fun for alot of people that are big into touring to go up there with out all of the other people from the tram.

Should be some really good turns this year, and will generally just give a different vibe than normal...it is only one year...you guys should enjoy the experience and hike/skin up there as much as possible.

I am pretty sure they are auctioning them off, or using them at a variety of locales in the Village and Shooting Star for 'ambiance'...

I went out last winter for my first visit to JHMR. Wanted to try and get out the season before to get the tram before it closed. And broke my shoulder in early Decemebr.

Still, last year was a great visit. Low coverage, but good snow in the northerly aspects. No crowds at all. Skiied right onto almost every lift for six days - even on the powder day!! Mostly lapped lifts, and occasionally hit Casper, Crags, Hobacks - would have loved the tram for those runs, but... still worth the visit.

What a sad day at Jackson!

Really glad we got to ride the first tram before it came down.

Here is a picture how the tram was used during construction of the new tower foundations. I got it from a friend a while back.

Sad - lots of epic days riding the big red box. On a powder morning, riding the tram where the stoke is so high you can cut it with a knife. Step out of the box and over 4000 sustained vert of pow waiting.
Tram or not JH still rules.

    RIP Old Tram.

Glad I got to ride it a few times, was a lot smaller than one would think watching TGR movies.

Truly the end of an era. I'll always remember my first ride up (198?) and the feeling of anticipation watching the mountain pass beneath us. A different experience than any other tram or lift I've ridden. Had the good fortune to ride the "next to last" tram of the season a few years back. What a party (what was that funky smell?!) After unloading, everyone waited around for the last tram and pelted the riders with snowballs. I just don't think the new one will be the same (but I'll still go check it out, just in case!)
Try to keep two ideas in your head at the same time without blowing your brains out your ass.
