First, the best trip ever of my life. Period. As I said in a previous post, I never laughed so hard,
skied so much pow, and was scared to death. On one toe-in heli landing I was so afraid I almost yakked.
But I did not. But it did mess with my mind. However, I am going back in April 2008 and am psyched to
up my game this spring and next year.
One thing that hamstringed me is you get to see your line for a second whereas
with lift served esp at Squaw you can eye your line over and over and see where to go, where not to go, and the danger zones.
Up there I trusted my guide but was thinking "if I go to far left or right will I hit a cliff band, crevasse or really ugly AK woman?"
It's scary.
Second,
Bobo's Mogul Mouse in Reno is the shizzle for coordinating
this with donations for Make A Wish Foundation.

Third, this trip was core and we had the luck of the snow gods and killed it.
We skied 5 out of 6 days and PNH was amazing. I got about 150,000 of vertical. I heard the group the week
before got only 1 day. I had hoped for 3 and it was just off the hook.
About 85% of the snow was pow in various forms. Some lines were dust on crust, crust, or ice and the Pontoons
were not ideal esp on 55 degree hop turn icy chutes. But otherwise they were the ski of choice.
If you want posh go elsewhere. Rooms are bare essentials (no phone or TV) and dinner is one meal with no options.
Not my cup of tea as I haven't eaten red meat in 10 years and I'm pretty health conscious. But it beats starving.
I arrive in Cordova and get my first view of the wild life: an orca.
OK, I'm already going to hell so I've got nothing to lose.
On the way in to PNH base our van stops and several skiers gear up and load the roof rack to prepare for their subsequent trip to the Betty Ford clinic.
Points North Heli HQ on Prince William Sound
Bonfire on the beach
Bald eagles: I never saw one until I went to AK. You see them all the time in Cordova. Nice.
Wakeboarder and kayak
Cordova and the Reluctant Fisherman bar and restaurant
Ski actions pics are tame. You can't stop and load up a 55 degree slope after many feet of snowfall.
And often times I was too damn scared and focused to bring a Kodiak, er Kodak moment.
