Colo: CAIC Corn Harvest + Long Boards = Longboard Day

    Ride The Long Rail

I think it is about time that Colorado worship at the temple of Long Board Day. Derivative I know. So in a pitiable attempt at innovation the date shall be:

April 28th for the Corn Harvest to benefit the CAIC @ Loveland.

Corn Harvest registration is 8:30-9:30, cost -$50 (incls tix, 25 w/pass). Line-up at 9:45 between 1 & 2 cause I have no idea where I’m going at LL.

You know the rules but for those who have bad memories:

    1) 210 cm or higher unless:

    a) women can be on traditional skis any size
    b) snowboarders can be on any skis or snowboards 200+

    2) Bonus points for:
    a) outfit
    b) ghetto alcohol

I'll be there rocking the 217 Rossis + Linkens so I should be easy to identify. I will not however be rolling with ghetto alcohol and instead will be packing Hamm's and a bota of Carlo Rossi.

I have a couple of lady suitable flat skis sitting around but don't really have any alpine bindings (I could swap on a set of linkens though).

Otherwise, that's more than a week to scrounge something to wear and something to ski. Shouldn't be that hard. Checked with Marsha and the recycler has 1pr of 212 Atomic SGS w/ 8-18 marker race bindings.

Don't even bother asking about change/nickels: Either you ride the long rail or you don't.

Sounds great, and the avy jam is a great cause. I will have to disregard the abritrary 210 requirement and ride my girly 204s. They at least have steezy flouro bases...

This bit of humor just can't go unnoticed:

Dammit! I knew it was a mistake to give those 223cm Atomic race room SuperGs to my brother, who never mounted them and they are still sitting in his basement in ATLANTA! Maybe I will rock the cow instead. Anybody got any 218 Kazamas lying around?

I boiled my thermometer, and sure enough, this spot, which purported to be two thousand feet higher than the locality of the hotel, turned out to be nine thousand feet LOWER. Thus the fact was clearly demonstrated that, ABOVE A CERTAIN POINT, THE HIGHER A POINT SEEMS TO BE, THE LOWER IT ACTUALLY IS. Our ascent itself was a great achievement, but this contribution to science was an inconceivably greater matter.

Greydon & 666 should be proud. Not only are they responsible for the spawning the original giant at Kirkwood, but have added regional events in the PNW and now Colorado!

C- if you rock the cow (SuperComps don't count) I will give you an exemption for sliding down to 200s.

DJ- Just go get some proper longboards they are not that hard to find, nor expensive. Otherwise the CA rule states that you must either flip or spin on your girlies.

    Summits, biotch!

And still looking for the 218s.

Fuck that noise. See Item 1 above.

Nice to see the LBD concept contagion spreading.

    That is all.

    I'm game for this game.

Any bonus points for matching circa boots? - cuz I might have to cram my foot in those if the binders won't match.

PS I always wondered what it took to get LB to ski LL.

Yes, LBD appears to have a long and grand tradition of rockin the vintage boots.

I'll be honest: it was the thought of trying to ski any of the alleys on my 217s that drove me to LL, not so much alturism for the CAIC

If by bigger you mean fatter, my wife will agree with you.

I do want 'em back. But he is in Israel now. I think leathers and skinny Kazamas may be the way to go.

If you got a size 8 foot I'll let you use the matching Asolo Snowfield leather ankle high boots too. - and matching red gators too if you're so inclined.

That costume is the reason I converted to the dark side.

Now, if I can just decide between the 217 SG's (this pair really sucks - I broke the 217's I like) and the 210 Coupe de mondes...

I do have access to one cool "ski jacket" that my dad used to wear back in the 50's that I'll be stylin in. You'll recognize me by the big fuzzy verticle red and white stripes - and headband. Now, where did those strech pants with underfoot loops go...

I have the snowfields and first generation Asolo buckle leather boots, too, but my circa '82 Pheonix Wilderness skinnies are sadly only 205s so once again I'm out of the game. I don't think there will be any helicopters going down on those!

Those 99s are pure evil except in a straight line, and even then only in a track do they have a purpose. Maybe I'll borrow my buddy's 215s. He was fool enough to buy those for touring even though he weighed about 145 pounds. I never saw him execute a single turn on them.

Squatch, once you go over ~225ish you start talking about jumping boards which are not going to take the abuse of LBD. I bet you can't even remember skiing on a straight ski. Trust me, once you go over 210 and take away any sidecut you'll have plenty of fun keeping them under control.

DJ- I believe you would qualify for participation if you used the leathers with the 205s. I don't recall either of those boots in enough detail to know if they're hybrids or not. As long as they're not hybrids you are good (hybrids = supercomps).

Frank- YES on the parental vintage gear. As long as they weather is basically favorable I'll be wearing a complete late 60s/early 70s ensemble: strechpants, baby shit yellow sweater blue+white tablecoth checkered windshirt that came from my dad.

You might consider seeing if somebody needs/can use the pair you're not going to be on.
