TR: Just a lil' ski hill in Montana (w/ Pownography)

Yup, Discovery is just a little mom and pop ski hill near Butte. A lot of people drive by it on there way to Big Sky, Bridger, Big Mountain, etc. Other then the two north facing bowls with 40 degree runs right of the lift, no crowds, $32 lift tixs, and the 24 inches of cold blower they got today there's not much reason to stop there.

    Mmmmm. Praxis good!

Gee, is it already 1:00pm? I'll just ski a little more untracked before I grab some lunch:

    Lots of people out today:

    My friend Dave getting some:

Dammit, it keeps snowing and refilling all the tracks:

It was starting to get really cut up after lunch, but we survived:

    Houston, we have a problem:

    Roger that:

Anyone seen a ski around here:

Yup, just a little ski hill in Montana:

Yes! Disco rocks. I lived in Butte for a few years; had some great skiing there. It can be very hit and miss with snow for sure though.

I still think i've had one of my best days ever there after a similar storm back in 1999 i think. Bottomless steep pow with only a handful skiers that day.

Great TR, thanks for the flashback.

Discovery is fun! I skied there the first time about 4 years ago. The backside is the goods.

I am waiting for the Butte TR from St. Patty's Day!

So that's you, huh. I saw you ripping it. Out of the 200 people on the mountain, you were the only one with that color jacket. Such a freaking awesome day. This was probably the best in-bounds day I've ever had. My first 3 runs were (Bad finger and Guns/Roses X2) untracked and the sluff (significant amount) was racing me down the mountain.

Unreal day!!! I ate half a sandwich for lunch on a chair ride and kept going...

I'm from Zoo Town but Discovery on a deep day is arguably better than Snowbowl. I love the bowl but there are 4 times as many people there than at Discovery on a powpow day.

I hut GunsNRoses about 7 times yesterday and hit no rocks (still need to avoid the marked off rock band at the entrance). GNR was pretty much nirvana yesterday.

In hindsight we need to keep the Discovery talk at a minimum. We don't need this mountain to be... ummm... discovered.

    Nice pics of Bridger, Sfotex.
