    WTB: accordion hose like AvaLung

I want to get about 4-5' of hose like the one attached to the mouthpiece of an AvaLung. The exact hose they use would be ideal. It's actually 2 hoses in one - it's got a white inner hose and a blue outer hose for strength but it's still lightweight. Anyone know where to source some or got any suggestions for an alternative?

hmmm... whatcha gonna use it for?

    Some random ideas:

    Flexible Nylon Convolute Wire Loom

    More along those lines

or using a different (and likely more spendy approach)

    Non Toxic Air Breathing Hose

or for the Home Depot approach... Braided Steel Washing Maching supply hose? Garden Hose?

Retrofitting AvaLung to ABS pack. I had some hose to use but it's heavy (radially reinforced rubber), like your air breathing hose looks. Except mine was probably toxic . Luckily that hose is only for exhalation.

Anyway, your first link looks like good stuff except it comes slit and in huge quantities. I'll search now I know what it's called. Thanks.

I'm refining my prototype again. Unfortunately I destroyed a section of hose and want to replace another type of hose I was using. Anyone got any old AvaLung I's that they don't use anymore and want to sell/give me the hose off of? Or anyone got a length of hose that fell off the back of a BD truck? I need at least 3 AvaLung intake hoses or 3-4'+ of hose.

I assume you are retrofitting your old avalung to fit in your pack and you need longer tubes? If so, then be careful what tubing you use for you project. Your life could depend on it. The avalung has specially designed tubes, one inside the other, for a reason - to prevent being crushed in an avalanche, impact, or body weight. The position of the valve is also critical. Take a look at where it is positioned on the new Avalung backpack. Personally, I'm down with tweaking & improving gear, but the avalung may not be the best place to concentrate your efforts

Here's roughly what I did. I replaced a section of the black hose with some AvaLung hose kindly donated by LeeLau. But my original AvaLung mouth hose got holes in it from carrying skis on that shoulder so that needs replacing. I'm going to put more material over it next time. Plus a section of the black hose just separated spontaneously so I have little faith in it now. I want all blue/white AvaLung hose for the whole system, but it's difficult to find. Well, not difficult to find but I don't want to pay 3 x $100 for something that I only need one minor component of. That's why I'm hoping some people will have AvaLung Is they don't want, which would be difficult to sell these days given the AvaLung IIs and the AvaLung backpacks. And that those people would be willing to just detach the hose and send that instead of the whole assembly.

I already asked BD when initially putting the project together and no luck so that's not an option unless someone here is able to get some for me.

Thanks for the link. Nice handy work there! A few years ago STP was selling of the old avalungs for $29. Pretty sure they are long gone now. You may have better luck finding as used one, although BD warns against used avalungs due to breathing someone else resperatory viruses/funk. Not to sound like a broken record, but just be careful with the hoses for previously mentioned reasons.

Hey, that's a good idea. I didn't think to search for sales on old AvaLung Is. I'm sure I'd get them cheaper from maggots though (i.e. free), so I'm still looking if anyone's offering.
