When the fat lady sings 10-26-2006

Decided to avoid the crowds at Alta today, and head south instead. That meant a 3,300 foot approach to the base of the skiing (old snowfield with new snow) at o'dark thirty. There was only 8-10" of new, but it was fast, light, and dry. And I'm not complaining, it's October.

Powstash and Long Duck Dong, Powdercow on the next switchback below.

We booted in running shoes for a couple grand, then finally got to skin. Feels good to be able to skin again. Powstash enjoying himself on his fav mountain.

    Fritz, always posing.

And always ahead. Even at ten years old, he still has it in him.

    Posing in da hut.

It's all about the Jetboil, and some Ramen.

A long walk to get here, but worth it. No need to worry about rocks up here.

Long Duck Dong checking out Provo and Mt. Nebo in the distance.

I didn't take alot of skiing pics, as I'd rather ski than screw up a perfectly good run. But here's Powstash.

The fat lady, schralping the pow on 174cm rando racing skis. Not sure how the old hag keeps afloat on those things.

More pics of that later, from Powstash and the others.

Nice to be on snow again, with nobody around.

I'd been waiting for your TR all day. It looks like a good time was had by all.

Great day today. Long one for a first tour of the year. I'll throw on some more pics, most of them of fat man in a little tutu.

TH donning the fat suit, that he hauled 4,500' up Timpanogos. This thing had a battery powered fan built in to ensure constant fatness. Seriously, this dude(ette) is deranged.

Fritz is pretty sure that his owner has gone around the bend. Or, hes about to drop a deuce. Not sure.

The fat man gittn' er done. Fritz, in his 10 year old wisdom, decided to run down the skin track instead of breaking trail through (dog)chest deep snow. Someone should remind that jong not to posthole the track.

The gang on the saddle, dealing with spindrift and high winds. But the sun was niiiice.

Fat guy slaying it. Surprisingly enough, his turns looked pretty much the same as when he wasn't wearing the suit.

    Some of our work.

    Utah is not ugly.

Way to not call in sick Josh. Seriously, good call man.

When your inflatable girlfriend said she wanted you "inside" her I think she had something else in mind.

It looks phenominal out there. I'm jealous I'm still in washington, not back home in utah. Sweet sea of clouds below you. Epic sunshine, what else do you need? How low did you guys get to ski to?
