How to put together sequence shots?

I've got a couple sets of pics from mtn biking today that I want to put together in a sequence... I've got Photoshop, and I can use something else if its easier. Can someone give me the how-to on this? I obviously searched for it and came up with one other thread, but it wasn't very in-depth. I'm a photoshop superjong, so anything will help. Thanks...

OK there are a lot of ways to do this,
Here is the super easy way (originally sent to Conundrum in a PM):

Here's the down and dirty method for sequencing. You'll need Photoshop (anything above 5 should do fine, I use 7).

    Selection:
Take your background image, then select one of your sequence images. Use the lasso to select around what you want. You don't have to precisely outline just take a big chunk. Paste it to the background and it will go in as a new layer.

    Alignment:
Line up the paste to the background with a loose approximation. Then change the paste layer blending option from "normal" to "difference" and carefully align the layer until background items which should match up black out. You'll know it when you see it. This method of alignment is very precise, very easy, and very fast. When it is lined up, change layer blending to normal.

    Precision adding:
Under the layer menu select "add layer mask, hide all." Now you can select a white paintbrush tool. Select the layer mask of the pasted layer from the layer window. You can now literally paint in that element of your sequence. If you paint in to much, switch to black on your brush and you can paint out parts.

Repeat as necessary for each element of the sequence. This is infinately faster and easier than the simpler method of painstakingly selecting the precise area for copy, visually aligning, then smudging the edges of the paste. You can also turn layers on and off if you decide you don't want an element.

When you are done, save your PSD file. When you want to export you will need to flatten the image from the layer menu. Then you can save as JPG.

Now if someone could hook me up with CS or CS2 I'd be most gratefull.

Summit, go to thepiratebay.org and download a bit torrent downloading program like ABC or something. This site also has tons of programs, movies, etc... It is almost impossible to download a virus b/c your file is not downloaded from a single person, it is taken piece by piece randomly from people seeding the files. I just got CS2 a little while ago from it

    there's a whole tutorial written:

    http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44259

summit's method, while easier in photoshop, assumes that the camera was stationary throughout the shot. if you need to stitch several images from a moving camera together, take the tutorial approach (replacing gimp with photoshop). the tutorial method also gives you a much finer control over what parts of the different pictures are shown and will smooth out the colors between shots if your camera was on full-auto and white-balanced them differently.

Yeah, but it's essentially all coming from the same original file that many people downloaded....

The cracked version of CS had some problems, such as shortcut keys (e.g., Ctrl-S/Apple-S for "Save") would not work; The same may be true for CS2.

For the record, I had a legit version of CS & CS2, but I tried a cracked version of CS as I could only install the legit version on one of my machines.

FWIW you can get the full education version of CS2 for $350 - a class at your local community college will qualify you, and you can use it for commercial work, as well as get the regular upgrade price.

While I use CS2 almost every day, I find that the improvements over CS are minimal, meaning if I could find a cheap (/free) copy of CS I would go that route.

In fact, the improvements over PS7 are great....but it's not mind-blowing. Everything you do in CS2 can be done in PS7, though it might take a little while longer in some cases.

Summit, whenever I paste an image in the background with the selection, it always turns out smaller than it should.

One cool thing CS2 has that CS doesn't is HDR. Also 16 and 32 bit editing (which I think is pretty huge) is possible with CS/CS2 but not PS7 - but CS is a memory pig...

    Thanks Summit

I just took your photoshop sequencing 101 class. This was my first attempt.

Next thing on my to-do list is to re-learn how to operate my 7D. After using a point and click for a year I had forgotten how sweet this thing is.
