TR: G3, The Front Face Mission (lots of pics!)

Ripz & I rallied this am, not too early, going out to get more of the past 3 days.
Glacier 3000 is full of people in April, but with 1600+m vertical, it's a good choice.
After first run, it became an exploratory mission.
First Reusch, then the Front Face to Pillon.

Enjoy the pics (photo of me, credit to Ripz, plus a few more).

    Looking up at Reusch.

Me, getting a little in near the trees on some steep.

Note to self: think arms down.

    Getting some more in Reusch.

The Mission: we want to ski this.

    And so we did.

Leysin, my home, in the background, and me, looking scared...

...because I had to pick a line to get down there.

Looking up at Cabane and the Ice Cascade.
Perspective = that ice fall is over 300 feet high (100+m).

Ripz coming out from the Icefall.

p.s. posting over a great meal at The Yeti, Leysin. Pics to follow.

What a difference a day makes!

Edit: I will ski it first ...and then decide if I will pitch it again.

btw. couple nice photos in there...like the one of you route searching...looks damn steep!
Next time, i will contribute the toliet paper.

Twas the other side, skier's left and around,
not under the telecabine line with that exposed traverse.

Twas also very steep and tricky in more than a few parts.
I think I turned pale after going over the little col and looking at my options.

Bravo! Al, what changed? I thought you weren't into jumping stuff? These last few TRs it seems a lot of hopping going down.

That line looks impressive... was that a first time descent? Must have been super scary getting whatever beta you had but not exactly really knowing...

    Two thumbs way up!

Yes, first time. It is an area that rarely gets tracks. There is a reason for that, access.

My beta was good, but like you said, without seeing it who really knows?

Some of the shear exposure was awesome! Truely incredible.
I have attached 2 photos, one from above and another not yet posted.

See that grassy spot and rock at about 2 o'clock from my head,
after the small rock band below me?
To the left of the grassy spot is shear drop off.

This is a pic from the grassy spot. Incredible!

Grass. Standing on it, I felt safe.

    Thumbs up

Long live this season - - keep it up!

(Still upset that I had to cancel my trip to the region this year. Hopefully next will work out.)
