Cheap Big Daddy Apreciation thread plus review

I got my first day on soft snow on these today at the bird and this skis rocks. Love the length i did not feel to long infact it felt great. It floated well in the powder and plowed through everything else, It was managable in the trees and bumps. and it loves to go fast. Great skis the mount anything plate with the rossi bindings has worked great. It had to be mounted about 2mm back from the recomended point my boot size is 26, i am just glad i did get the atomic binding becasue it would weigh to much. It sucks atomic is not longer making this ski. I hope everyone else is enjoying ther cheap big daddies.
If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

Had three days on mine so far. Still working on binding issues but really like the ski. Its a whole lot more ski than anything else I've got, so we'll be spending lots more quality time getting to know each other better

Got a pr of the blue ones mounted w/ freerides. Will be using those shortly. Freakin big ass skins, fer sure.
Lookin forward to ripping some shit when it finally clears off for a lil here.

Dont let corn dog fool you guys, he's rocking on the big daddys. Usually i'm waiting for a little bit on him, first day on the big daddys and i had to make sure i looked over my shoulder before i stopped, he was right on my tail all day long.

Now you're making me blush! Yes, they sure do pick up a whole lot more speed than my monsters (older 117 - 85 -?? 180cm pair). Once I get the bindings sorted so I'm not worried about my heel popping loose I'll be able to open things up a bit!

    BTW, what up with knee?

I've had one day on mine at Vail. 4 inches of fresh plus some sidecountry. They were fun but I can't lke, I felt like I was working pretty hard on some of the inbouds stuff. Negotiating moguled-out exits to some of the stuff in blue sky basin was a chore. Kicked ass in anything crud like, and in knee deep stuff out of bounds they were exactly what I was hoping for.

Heading to Utah this weekend for three days, only taking one pair of skis, given the forecast, definitely going to be these.

Finally got them mounted up and put two days on them at Kirkwood, UT. They are mounted about 1cm forward...had to with the mount anything plate and 335mm bsl with Salomon 916's. They loved that light snow and making big turns. But they also did really well skiing slow with the woman. I'm a big guy, but they were very managable and easy to ski on. I never wished they would be shorter, softer, or skinnier. Great skis.

    Quick question on this ski...

I've just cleared out almost everything from my garage, and I was considering picking a set of 07/08 Big Daddies up and mounting them with Dukes. My question is about the handling of last years ski. I want to try and enter some IFSA events this season and I was wondering if this ski would be able to do something like that. The aspect I am really interested in is how it handles speed when the snow is hard, cut up, and really sketchy. Should I get something else or would this ski work for that too? I sold Rossi Squad 89s so I'm sorta wondering if this ski could compare to those.

    Thanks!

    okbye

    EDIT: I'm 5' 10" ish and about 160-165 lbs

I'll help you out RF (since your local and all). The 07-08 Big Daddy is a completely different ski than the old model they're talking about in this thread. New: 145-125-129 vs Old: 133-107-123. How big are your paws? You can try mine if you'd like.

I initally LOVED them since they felt super easy in fresh but now I really only like mine (over my other skis) in really heavy deep snow (ie storm skiing in wet snow) on anything else where I hit bottom or where the snow is light I felt the combo of shape in tip w/ narrow tail makes it whip around too quick. Mine are mounted at -2 which I'm sure has something to do with that.

I also demoed the '08-'09 version with rocker and def liked it better - being on the line gave me more stability from the tail and chop was way smoothed out by the rocker. I'm sure either is an aquired taste...anyway, try mine out if you want, I'm a 306 bsl.
