Does anyone know anything about Salomon E2 ski boot that was written up in the current issue of Skiing Mag? They have it as their choice for their burliest AT set up, it's supposedly an alpine boot with a walk mode and a lugged sole.
I can't find anything about it online, on the Salomon website, nor the couple stores I've stopped in. Interested in trying them on and seeing how they feel compared to my AT boots.
in between in terms of last and shell shape to the performa and ellipse.
i don't know the flex but in the 70-80 range. def. stiffer than an adrenaline.
the liners are super heavy, and would ski better with a thermo liner.
they are only available special order through a rep at the moment.
if you are not 'IN', then have a buddy at the LSS call 'em up.
they were thought up as a high end rental boot, but may or may not be a retail item in the future.
they are supposed to be used with a special e2 binding that is in theory an alpine binding compatible with walking tread as well...
Thanks for the info! I emailed Salomon the same time I posted this question and heard back from them today. They confirmed that the boot (and special binding for them) is available and can be ordered by any Salomon authorized retailer.
Ordering boots without trying them on might be a little to scary for me though.
Internet searching suggests that E2 = easy enduro =Salomon's walking sole.
Internet also suggests that the toe box is pretty big. I'm a little nervous about a three buckle boot with a high-volume toe box. Has anyone actually tried them with a thermo liner? (I hate the loose feel in the toe of my orange Scarpa AT boots.)
