Cool TR: Oh.My.God. Crystal Mountain 11.12.05

We give thanks to Ullr. The Cascades have been on a roll lately- from Baker to Crystal...the richtersickdur scale has been off the charts.
Another cold set of storms moved in from the coast to blanket the Cascades with a ton of our favorite white stuff.

    SATURDAY 11.12.2005
On the drive up, we could tell it had the makings for an epic day. The foothills and benches were coated with snow.

It was game time. And Crystal's terrain was ready to get down to business

    Silver King

    The Throne

Chair 6 was deserted. We saw that Schmear snagged 1st chair (bastardo!) but pondered...."where oh where art thou profit, Mr. Highman?"

BC-Flow enjoying an untracked Campbell Basin

    Pollard

BC-Flow is a slutbag. The Ants cutting first tracks all day

    BC-Flow...decisions, decisions...right or left?

Holy ! It's OPEN! This will not suck. Get the walking boots on. Southback calls.

    Tasty.

Okay, I guess that was worth the hike

"Uh, I think I'm going to have to get a snorkel. The snow keeps getting deeper!" (Pollard)

Pollard nearing the bottom of Silver Basin

    Squirrel

BC-Flow wishing he was on a NASTAR course

All this fresh snow- about time we spice things up

The Flying Rodent - Squirrel going the distance (insert Cake song here)

Pollard ordering off the lunch menu

2pm. Barely touched. Seriously. (okay, I lied. they opened Northback around 12pm)

    Pollard- he's in there somewhere

    Squirrel

One of Iggy's friends, snowboard chica shredding the gnar

    Crystal's legendary Snorting Elk Cellar

Where the PNW Mags gather to toast beers at the end of a day like this! I'll take a Mirror Pond & some Kokanne please!
(left to right: Pollard, Monique, Squirrel, Mr.&Mrs. Rehabit, BC-Flow, Natalie & Joshbu)

Fun. Very Fun. Too much Fun. I'm overdosed on Fun. WOW. Sunday TR to follow

So I guess I'm looking back at you in this shot? (It was so good I've resorted/reverted to using emoticons.)

Skillet and I snagged second and third tracks (there was one patrol track from O dark thirty) down Powder Bowl on that first run. I've always wanted to do that. Sorry (ahem, sort of) we didn't wait for you at the top!

From there it was on to High Campbell. This looks almost exactly like yours:

We proceeded to move farther out High Campbell and then hiked the King twice, doing Hour Glass the first run and the back side the second:

Good stuff in the trees down below:

Finished the day at 1:30 in North Back. Lookie, nary a track in the trees for 1500' vert to the Ho Chi Minh and the car:

Sunday was my day to stay home. My wife got the goods instead. Heard it was soggier, but still niiiiiiice.

Awesome tr, squirrel. I woulda loved to have been there. But I only had time to go to the Pass, pick up my pass, ski a few groomers, visit a customer, and attend Carl Skoog's memorial, which was very touching...as many shared their experiences in remembrance and celebration of his life.

I've skiied Xtal for 30 years and don't recall ever being able to ski the bc this early. You lucky dogs you, way to git summmmm!!!

AWESOME!!!! Jealous you guys got into the Southback more than I did. I can't complain about untracked snow at 2pm, though. You guys got some great shots.

My snowboarding friends wanted to kill me after the Ho Chi Man Trail.

Can't wait to see how sunday was.
