My new business - Downhill Destinations

I just wanted to let the Maggots know first that I'm starting a new business. The company is called Downhill Destinations and it's a travel agency that focuses on winter travel. The website is www.downhilldest.com, and I owe a huge thank you to BCFlow for desiging my logo. (I liked the Superstar's logo better, but then I remembered who my audience was ).

My target market is people who want to go skiing, but don't know where to go. I specialize in planning truly customized trips that perfectly fit the travelers. In other words, college students looking to ski and party for spring break will get vacations to places like Breck or Heavenly, but not Alta. Likewise groups with beginners won't be sold trips to Jackson Hole or Snowbird.

The resort expertise probably won't be that useful for the Maggots since you already know where you want to go, but if you want to save time, or you're looking to visit somewhere unique, I can definitely put together a vacation plan for you. You can contact me through the web site, or just PM me.

Since I'm a travel agency, I can plan trips to anywhere in the world (good luck getting one the tour operators to send you to Silverton), so customers aren't limited to just the major resorts. My profit comes from the commissions paid by travel suppliers (hotels, airport transfers, etc), so I don't have to charge anything for my planning services.

If it's new, how do you already have testimonials?

Do you really always know where the next big storm is about to hit? Is it because of your Spidey-sense?

Ummm, you might wanna have a picture that seems a bit more expert than that action shot of you on the rope tow.

Hey, what happened to the double D cups logo??

A good question, that actually has a real answer. I've been planning my family ski trips for the past few years (basically acting as a travel agent without collecting comissions), so I got them to write a few testimonials for me. I could probably get a couple of Maggots to do the same, since I have occasionally booked condos for Mammoth trips.

lemon boy - tutoring is fun, but it's not skiing.

    45hill - oops. thanks!

SP - No comment. (I couldn't find any good pictures.) Bonus points to anyone who can ID the lift.

Is it that stupid handle tow that runs from Two Elk to the top of tea cup lift at Vail?

Yep, its the handle tow on the top of Vail.

And yes, I'm way more core than you since I'm hitting it switch yo!

edit - I looked for a good action shot, but I tend to make faces when I'm concentrating. At least I'm smiling in this shot (even if it does make me look like a gaper). As soon as I can find something better I will update that shot.

Also, we need to help you work on your slogan a bit, this one is like Travel Haiku gone horribly wrong:

    From Wolf Creek to Whistler,
if there's snow, I can plan
    your next trip!

That's not really a slogan so much as something I came up with this morning to put in my signature. The scary thing is that it's better than my previous ideas. Clearly I am not a marketing person.

    Is this better?

    From Wolf Creek to Vail
If there's snow we'll send you there
    Good value every trip.

    Hey at least it's 5-7-5!

No. Perhaps you need to start a 'Help me come up with a slogan that doesn't suck' thread.

Speaking of slogans, Iceman, yours looks awfully familiar. Whoever wrote that must be a genius.
I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.
