Also, it's a ski jump not a slalom course.

Actually, that's the attire for brokers and investment bankers in SF. It's pretty laid back there.

What I'm wondering is where the hell are the pics. Damnit 666, didn't you bring your laptop with you?!?!?!?!

    Edit: Oh, sweet! Nevermind.

I got there at 10am....planned to stay an hour or so, ended up staying until 1:30

residents also awoke to find they had to shovel snow out of the driveways of their $5M homes...

nothing happened for almost 2 hours...everyone just hung around

TJ SChiller (green), Simon Dumont (tank top)...

    CR Johnson looking bored....

FINALLY, AFTER A 2 HOUR DELAY, AROUND NOON, IT BEGAN

the IcerAir event started out with a wedding .....I WONDER WHAT THAT COST THEM.....

    SFChronicle:
"Avid skiers, Bill Parker and Tracy Daily wanted to do something memorable. So Daily, dressed in a white tuxedo and skis, skied down Fillmore Street with Jonny Moseley, who gave her away. The couple plans to spend their honeymoon dropping out of a helicopter, in skis, over the mountains of British Columbia. "This just came up last Thursday," said Parker. "Tracy said, 'I wonder if Jonny still has that ski jump up.' So we called and it all came together. What a wonderful place to be married."

    here comes the groom

Jonny gave the away the bride....chicks in the crowd were going nuts for him the entire day

tuxedo, tails & bindings....the perfect match for snow in SF on an 80 degree day

then they ski'd away happily ever after.....

    the venue....

who says SF doesn't have hot chickas....one of the skiers in the competition is up there with them...I guess Northstar doesn't suck as much any more?

Man of the hour..... heeeeeere's Jonny...

the guys who came up short got crushed on the first few tries....but lots of amazing moves were thrown down

    some action.....

    TJSchiller eyes the landing zone

Simon Dumont in lower left of pic looking up threw down big

    who needs poles???? Andy Mahre

TJSchiller went crazy all day long...

    faceplant coming....in 3....2....1.....

So did anyone lay down some sick shit or what, Squawman? You just mentioned some amazing moves. Who do you think was on his game?

ah - bummed I miss this. Had way too much work to do to get there!

But did love getting a call from my cousin at 8 am - "it's snowing in San Francisco. Get up here!"

sicksicksick. So awesome that they got to throw down in the middle of SF, looks like a buttload of people turned out as well.

    Caw! Caw!

And due to the "I guess Northstar doesn't suck as much anymore" comment, I'm going to have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed a full 3 days there during a March dump. Lookout Mountain, while being quite small, has some great terrain. Granted it pales in comparision to the likes of Squaw, but it was still good. Especially as most of the gapers spend their time at the bottom of the mountain on the all-park quad...

I can't believe they pulled that off. I was impressed by the design/construction/planning of the jump. Not enough speed was a problem, maybe more so for snowboarders than skiers, and maybe for lighter riders. Some guys didn't wax for the day I suspect. One guy's base looked like it had never ever been waxed.

    Overheard in the crowd:

guy to spectator, "... yeah and those huge ice cubes down there..." refering to the foam impact cubes at the jump.

spectator: "...yeah, there is going to be a lot of explaining going on at the office tommorow..."

loud guy spectator to woman on balcony: "Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your hair!"

crowd at top, in unison: "... hap-py biirrrth-day to O-livia..."

from the crowd at the top: " MEDIC!!! MEDIC!!!" after some poor old guy keeled over on the steps as a result of unknown causes. I think he was going to be OK, the SFPF/Paramedics were on him quick. He lost it and hit his head but came to or didn't stay out. O2 and out on a stretcher.

snowboard competitor to course guy, "... can we get a ramp off the top of the cable car???" In the persuit of more speed. At the top of Filmore was parked a trolley car/bus. Skiers were able to get whipped out of the car with the help of two assistants, one on each pole. Snowboarders were left to launch themselves. Most skiers rode their tails in a squat for more glide. Mosely and a few others skated down the in run, Mosely skated the farthest I think, halfway to the jump maybe? The guy went big. Supa smooth too.

I couldn't not notice each time Travis Parker (blue/white long sleeves) dropped in the run in chute he had a maniacle grin on his face like he is thinking: "Holly COW!!! I'm in SF and I'm going to flip the SHIT out of this one....YEEEEAAAAH!!!"
Most folks looked pretty serious dropping in.

awesome event yesterday (and i usually hate the whole park-rat scene). was so great to see the city rally behind the skiers and boarders, awesome weather, great vibe, all around great day. the run was too slow according to some folks in the event we chatted with, temps rose real fast and make the in-run slow and sticky.

strolled down to city tavern post-event where some peeps i know had a prime sidewalk table and proceeded to drink several ice cold beverages while wasting the day away sitting in the sun....no one was at work in SF yesterday, was amazed at the turnout.

Now, we need some real snow, please....

Hey, did any of Y'all see what happenend to the "Katrina Relief" raffle ? They had some dope prizes, and the Guy/Girl selling them said they'd only sold 50. It was supposed to go off at 4:00. No sign of anyone though.
