cover shipping ($10ish) and beer ($10ish) and all yours

size "K" or "XS" sole length from 26.0 cm to 31.5 cm

size "N" (normal) sole length from 29.0 cm to 34.5 cm

size "Ü" (uberfoot) sole length from 31.5 cm to 37.0 cm

So, would that XS size fit something like a kids boot? If so I would totally take one of those.

    a sortof on topic question:

so my buddy who is like 6 feet tall, maybe 170 pounds really wants some touring bindings....the kid is not the best skier ever, but getting better all the time, and he is a climbing machine....he wants me to take him out this winter to ski mellow trees and just get him intoduced to the backcountry...

so he just needs bindings for this year really...

Anyway, how strong are those bindings? Will he break them skiing mellow trees, no hucks, ect?

if not he will totally want a pair...thanks

He should be fine, I've seen lots of big dumb british army guys that can't ski beat on this same bindings and not break them.

the 404 was the workhorse before the diamer, very hard to kill

I'd like a pair, need something for my wife. Are you going to be in Calgary for the shows? Otherwise I could drop by somewhere in Banff/Canmore to pick them up one day. Let me know what would be good.

    Size N

A google/froogle search revealed nothing -- any idea if the heels are available in the U.S.?

    Any "N" lengths left?

    Bump for better photos --
    http://www.scialp.it/notizie/attacch.../silvretta.htm

I'm still looking for a source for heelpieces, but the photos on this website show the binding pretty close up.

Marmot Mountain Works in Bellevue WA found me 1 pair of heel pieces from Garmont (apparently the distributor of Silvretta in the US), used, which are on their way to me. No more available through Garmont.

These heelpieces were used for "Skitec" water ski bindings (!), so maybe check your local water ski stores? I'm not a water skier/ wakeboarder/ anything on liquid water, so I have no leads there.

    Silvretta DIN & forward pressure

I freehand mounted my Silvrettas from mntlion today, with the heelpieces that Marmot sent over. FWIW, the "uberfoot" binding fits my 28.5 (317mm) Lowa Struktura boots, on the smallest setting.

I think I know the answer to this, but I'll ask in case mntlion or anyone else can confirm--

There are only 4 places on the binding that anything spring-tension-related can be adjusted. Someone tell me if I have this correct:

    1) Near toe piece, there's a switch that has 3 positions, no numbers, no markings. I'm guessing this is for the spring preload for the binding to return to "flat" when in tour mode.

    2) On heelpiece, on backside like on Look Pivot bindings, there's a window with markings from 4 through 9, adjustments made through the tip of the Pivot bottle. I'm guessing this is DIN setting for fore/aft release on the heelpiece.

    3) On base plate, near heelpiece (but not part of heelpiece), there is a window with marking from 4 through 9, adjustmens made through the flat of the base plate. I'm guessing this is DIN setting for sideways/twisting release on the heelpiece.

    4) On side of the rails, there's a sliding indicator marked "MAX" and "MIN." This preloads when the boot is placed in the binding. I'm guessing this is forward pressure setting. On this binding, is it better to be closer to the "MAX" than "MIN"? Is it safe to use in a lower forward pressure setting?

    1) correct

    2) upward release (forward fall)

    3) correct

    4) correct forward press. I'd do Max, but try it and see how it feels

FYI: All sold, got no more
