    PSA: backcountry.com $25 for $50 worth. Groupon

    http://groupon.com/deals/backcountry...&vmobile=false

Lots of caveats. One per person, no sale items. You don't need to be invited to join groupon, but if you aren't a member and would like to kick $5 my way, let me know and I will pm you my referral link.

    Cheers.

I think my wife might have something to do with this....

    From http://www.groupon.com/ at 10:00 PDT:
    Something broke...
It appears that we are currently experiencing technical difficulties. We are working to correct the issue right now and should be back up soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.

How does this work? You pay groupon $25 and they give you a $50 gift certificate? I see no mention of the usual bc.com caveats, i.e. can't use on ski gear, TNF, Arcteryx, BD, etc.. Can it be combined with a coupon code?

I'm wondering this as well. If it is redeemed through a coupon code, I assume it won't be able to be mixed with other codes. If it is done through gift certificate codes, we're probably in the clear from all restrictions.

Anyway, I grabbed one. Thanks for the heads up.

Word is that you can't use this with a coupon code, otherwise us employees could buy it and go to town.

what does "On Sale" mean? Anything marked off MSRP is a no go?

    For example:
    http://www.backcountry.com/dynafit-t...ft-z12-binding
    Costs $484.95
    MSRP is $569.95.

    Would it work or not?

That binder isn't on sale - if it is on sale it will say "X% off" next to the price.

I don't have any idea on the groupon how this matters but just letting you know that almost nothing on BC is sold at MSRP.

What I want to know is why a generic deal like that was only posted to Milwaukee, a city I don't get groupon's emails for. My deal today was 74% off a gym membership, yawn. *shrugs*

There are more and more sites that are tracking Groupon deals of nationwide interest. I get as excited as the next guy at all of the deals for a local nail-salons, but obviously these aren't of interest to people from other regions. Some deals like the backcountry.com and Wine Insiders are of national interest, but they either test-market them to some of the local groups, or have some magic algorithm that tells them which local groups should get them. Places like http://www.grouponroundup.com/ and http://grouponbot.com/ collect these in one place. I'm not aware of a single email that will deliver all of the national deals to you, but if it doesn't already exist, you have to think that it's only a matter of time.
