TR. Slice of Life, Farellones, Chile.

My sister and her boyfriend came to visit me in Farellones, where I am spending the season. Here is what we did.

While watching sunset from my house, you notice one of the most obvious lines at La Parva, La Chiminea. So we decided to go ski it.

    Hitchhiking as always.

Short hike up, view of El Plomo, about 5,400m high.

And a view down to the smoggy city of Santiago.

    Jason in the chute.

Then we went to a BBQ that will forever make me feel inadequate back at home and drank piscolas until 3am. We were worried about being 15 minutes late to the lifts in the morning as it was sure to be a nice pow day. But El Colorado was completely deserted. So we proceeded to ski all day without crossing tracks.

A short skin back to the lifts before getting some more.

My visitors grew tired of the constant cold of living in Farellones, and requested some beach time. I happily obliged. I write this TR from Viña del Mar, having spend all day on the beach. Some of my toes are still numb its been so cold up there in the hills. Nothing another BBQ cannot cure.

    Until next time!

Nice. Jealous I am but where's the pics of the BBQ? Next to pictures of powder skiing, pics of roasting meats are nearly as good.

Nice work. La Chiminea is a great line and love the access. A pic from 2 years ago, looking down:

That's the million dollar question this year.

Most years the farellones area resorts (tres valles) close in late september.
