    TR: Kashmir 2010

Feels like this place needs some new stoke now that summer is almost officially here.
2 seasons ago I went to Kashmir to ski. This past season I went back for another 9 weeks.
    It was good. Enjoy!

    Main Players:

    soul_skier: loudmouth american

    samthaman: chief security consultant

    (photo samthaman)

allentaylor and Riley(non-mag): Exterminator and Hawaiian

    (photo samthaman)

Amit(non mag): ex boy band member, aging pop star, Swedish

    (photo Riley)

mc_roon: “I’ve been here before and sorta know what im doing…”

    (photo riley)

Llyon: generally stoked on life 24/7, heaviest BC setup award

most of the gear we brought

    Home for the foreseeable future

    (Photo riley)

    Nice view?

    (photo riley)

but still cozy on the inside(notice the “heater” in the center of the room)

we had an interesting year snowpack wise, which lead to some very interesting days early in our trip

Cant say it enough, Brian Newman(head of ski patrol) does an incredible job every single day. He has built an excellent ski patrol from scratch with the overall goal of eventually creating a self sufficient Kashmiri ski patrol. His assistant Duffy also did an amazing job. The native ski patrollers also kick ass and are out there all day every day for next to nothing.

Enough words about the place, just look.

So, what do you want to do today?

    (photo dex)

dunno, lets just make sure we don’t cross the DMZ and get shot(fence on ridge = start of DMZ)

    soul_skier waiting alone

    oh wait, not totally alone

found this picture from 2 years ago…same dog

cool way to end a tour

I'm here to say that this trip was at times awesome, and at other times, very awesome.... and that I'll be putting up some photos of my own later this summer.

Matt, you got the feeling of the place quite nicely there. Too bad we never got any footage of Abzel when he was all shit faced and scaring the women. I'll have to get Allen to post up the group shot.

Those are just your run of the mill Himalayan foothills across the Kashmir valley. The true monsters look big even from 30k feet and dwarf those peaks. I believe it's Deo Tiba that you see from the resort on clear days, but it might be K2. Dave Watson would be the one to ask.

fly to Delhi then connect to Srinagar, that cost me about $1000. Hotels are all over the place. I'll let Matt chime in on the tickets, I don't remember how much they cost.

    Unbelievable TR, great pictures man.

You know it's going to be a sick TR when one of your first photos (great DOF btw) shows off a beautifully skied sickgnar line in the background ... perfectly seeded an introduction of that line before bringing it back at the climax of the TR.

Very well skied, photographed, lived up, reported, etc -10 stars! Now time for me to check out Allen and Sam's shots!
