Fritschi Freeride 2005 - repair

After an instan-tele experience the small screw underneath the rear of the bar endcap was ripped out. On later models (after 2006) two screws are used. The small screws can be seen furthest right in this pic.

Have a repacement screw but the hole is threaded. Any ideas on if / how this can be repaired?

There is an oversize screw from Diamir for fixing this problem.

The standard screw is M 3.0 x 5.5 T10 part number 1256.

The oversize screw is M 3.5 x 5.5 T10 part number 1660.

This will fix any minor damage to the screw hole in the bar. If you have not used a very oversize screw as a temp fix you should be just fine with the oversize screw. It will self tap the aluminum bar. Just don't crank down on it very hard. Get it snug and flush with the plastic on the end piece.

Local dealer should be able to take care of this for you. The white Freerides are no longer covered under warranty so ask nicely.

that screw fell out of my buddies binding in the middle of know where at like -23C

fortunaltely I seen it in the snow and macgyvered it back in with the can opener on my swiss army knife but it was cross threaded ,red shred in williams lake fixed it gratus and brewed us up a nice cup of coffee ... but I ended up spending 300$ on something else

now i always pack a driver with a PZ-3 and a torx-10 bit in the handle which fits every screw on the binding

the old freerides have 1 screw but the freeride+ have 2 screws

Just a side note:

My white Fritschis failed me last april. The plastic piece that locks the binding for downhill (and doubles as climbing aid) broke while landing switch. In the white Fritschis that piece takes up all the lateral force on the binding (I guess that's why the new ones have a different construction).

Although it was impossible to get instant replacement in Vienna, Fritschi did replace the part free of charge when I sent it in through a store.

Don't know about the warranty but I've heard about this issue in other forums and it seems that the Fritschi guys know about this problem and provide good service.

I've got two pairs of 2005 (white) Fritschi Freerides and will probably replace them with something else in the next couple of years (e.g. Fritschi Eagle or dynafit and Duke/Baron). Until then when doing multiday tours I'll take both pairs of skis with the white freeride bindings just incase one pair dies.
